Harder Christmas Music
I'm not at all in favor of starting to celebrate Christmas before we've even started thawing out our Thanksgiving turkey, but I'm planning ahead. So, bare with me. I provide the music for the entrance hallway in our church and I was starting to put together an MP3 playlist of harder, more up to date, alternative, and more current Christmas tunes that are clean and suitable for church. I don't necessarily want Christian stuff, but that is fine too. I'm okay with clean stuff from alternative, secular artists. However, I need suggestions. Or better yet, send me the MP3's. What should I put on the playlist?

band aid do they know its christmas, drummer boy by david bowie and bing crosby, wonderful christmas time- paul mccartney, santa clause is coming to town- bruce springsteen, merry christmas-the ramones my personal favorit is Father Christmas by the Kinks but I don't think it is church appropriate :) oh and grandma got ran over by... darn it now I have that song stuck in my head.
I have some Mannheim Steamroller stuff. What about the Roach Sister's Christmas stuff? I also have Muppet Christmas Carol? Kenny G? [ugh!] Charlie Brown Christmas jazz? and Harry Connack? Any look interesting?
Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping for more current artists than David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen. Also, I was looking for harder stuff than Kenny G or the Muppets. I did find Weezer's Christmas album. I found one by Arcade Fire, too...but it wasn't very good. I'm looking for stuff that they might play on KROQ.
I was gonna say Weezer but it looks like you already found them. I really like their christmas songs. Being that you said you want stuff they would play on KROQ, you should look at old Kevin and Bean Chrsitmas albums. Obviously, most of it is not what you are probably looking for, but there are some gems on them. Coldplay did Have yourself a merry little christmas, Smash Mouth - Blue Christmas, Eve 6 - First Noel, 3 Doors Down - Jingle Bells, Fuel - We Three Kings, Good Charlotte - Christmas By The Phone, Jack Johnson - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Hinder - Little Drummer Boy, My Chemical Romance - All I want for Christmas Is You. Those are some pretty decent ones. Hope that helps and you can find them, if not, shoot me an email.
