The Case of the Missing T

There is something shocking happening with our youth today. It's spreading and it's getting worse. At this rate, I'm afraid of what will happen to the English language. It could very well be reduced to grunts and groans. It's the case of the missing syllables. Let me give you some examples. When I listen to the youth of today speak, they will often leave out important syllables on the words they are speaking. For instance, "Important" becomes "impor-ant" or "mountain" becomes "mown-an". It's alarming. The word "it" goes from having a strong t sound to sounding like "iiii". Or "got" becomes "gawww". Come to think of it, maybe it's the case of the missing T. For some reason, most of these examples are missing a strong T sound in the word where it is supposed to be. I don't understand what the youth of today has against the letter T, but I hope to find out and put the letter T back into it's proper place in the English vocabulary.

If they were in choirs, they might get it back. We're constantly being told to always sing that ending t sound when the words end with a T.

In our choir, to minimize hiss or stutter, we have a designated person singing the ending "S" or "T".

A lot of young people seem bent on making themselves unemployable by whatever means. I'm good with it, that means our kids don't have to compete with them.
